'Coronation Street' actress Brooke Vincent works as a Saturday girl in a hair salon.

Despite being a regular on one of the nation's favourite programmes, the 16-year-old star - who plays Sophie Webster in the hit soap - helps out every week at a local hairdresser's and mainly sweeps the floor.

She said: "I work on Saturdays in a salon in Manchester. I know how to put a colour on, but I mostly clean up. They won't let me answer the phone, though because I'm so common."

It's hard to tell if a boy likes me or if he's just interested because I'm on the telly. If a lad doesn't mention 'Coronation Street', I think they're probably interested in me as a person.

Brooke also admits she finds it difficult being one of the youngest cast members as she isn't allowed to celebrate when they all go out.

She said: "I'm underage, and couldn't get away with going out, because everyone would know! It's annoying when the cast all head out on a Saturday night and I have to stay at home."

As well as not being able to go out, Brooke says it's hard finding boyfriends as some of them only want to date her because she's famous.

She told Inside Soap magazine: "It's hard to tell if a boy likes me or if he's just interested because I'm on the telly. If a lad doesn't mention 'Coronation Street', I think they're probably interested in me as a person."
