Fiona Phillips claims quitting 'GMTV' saved her marriage.
The presenter departed her £1.5 million hosting role a year ago and says it has eased the pressure on her relationship with the show's editor Martin Frizzell, who she married 12 years ago.
She said: "Our relationship has changed so much, leaving 'GMTV' was a big help. We can have a lie-in together now and we're much more relaxed. Before, by the time he got home I'd be really grumpy and tired. Now we make a real effort to keep our relationship exciting. We go on dates and go away for weekends. It's important to remember why you first fell in love."
I still see them, but it's difficult because they have such an early start that you can only meet for lunch as they have to go to bed so early
Fiona is still friends with her former colleagues but doesn't regret leaving after becoming more aware of the impact the early starts had on her social life.
She added: "I still see them, but it's difficult because they have such an early start that you can only meet for lunch as they have to go to bed so early. I went out with Penny Smith the other night and she kept looking at her watch and I thought, 'God, I couldn't live like that anymore.' I've got a life again."
