Luke Tittensor Escapes Jail

Thursday 30th April 2009 - 13:00:18

Ex-'Emmerdale' actor Luke Tittensor walked free from court yesterday (29.04.09).

Luke, 19, was given a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) against a 16-year-old boy, who he punched in February last year.

The sentence of nine months jail, handed at Bolton Crown Court, was suspended for two years - meaning as long as he adheres to parole terms for the time of suspension, Luke will not go to jail.

This offence is thoroughly out of character for Luke Tittensor.

He was also ordered to complete 200 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation and £1,100 court costs.

Defending Luke, his lawyer said: "This offence is thoroughly out of character for Luke Tittensor."

The unnamed teenager attacked by the star in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, was reportedly left in hospital for three days and needed metal plates inserted to fix a shattered jaw.

Luke - who played Daz Eden in the ITV soap - was officially dropped by 'Emmerdale' last Tuesday (21.04.09), but his character had been written out of the programme in March when charges were brought against him.

A source at 'Emmerdale' said: "As Luke has pleaded guilty to the serious charge of GBH and we cannot condone criminal behaviour, we have met with Luke and his agent to explain that his contract will be terminated."
