'Britain's Got Talent' denies Susan Boyle was picked to appear on the show.
The singer has been accused of being set up to appear on the reality talent show and her rise to fame stage managed, after comments she made to a US TV station.
The row erupted after an interviewer asked her: "Did the show find you or did you find the show?" Susan replied: "No, the show found me."
The 48 year old - who became an internet sensation after her audition video was watched by over 90 million people - has since been accused of being a fake.
A source at the show, however, claims she has been misinterpreted.
The source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "No way did producers hand-pick her for the show. How exactly would we find Susan in deepest, darkest Scotland? She's not someone who sticks out from the crowd."
Did the show find you or did you find the show? Susan replied: No, the show found me.
Susan has previously said she appeared on the show after being urged to apply by her mother as she lay on her deathbed aged 91, two years ago.
She said: "She was the one who persuaded me to fulfil my dreams and go on it. So after watching the last series, I thought I'd take my chance with everyone else.
"I had to pluck up the courage to go through with it, though. When I was out there, singing on that stage, I was doing it for Mum."
Meanwhile 'Britain's Got Talent' boss, Simon Cowell, has said he doesn't like the star's recent makeover which has seen her dye her hair brown and wax her eyebrows.
He told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "She and I might have to have a little conversation in the next day or so.
"What I loved about her was the fact that she had no sense of awareness about what she looks like and actually doesn't care."
Susan will perform in the semi-finals of 'Britain's Got Talent' next month.
