I had a contraceptive injection IUD and its been four months my periods are heavy and I have them twice a month now and I'm worried. Please help.
The contraceptive releases a dose progestogen slowly into the body which thins the lining of the womb to make it difficult for a fertilised egg to embed its self there in order to survive.
It is common for a womans periods to become extremely irregular for the first year, and even stay irregular after that. So I wouldn't worry about it, as it is not unusual.
It is well known that womens periods become irrelgular when they are having regular contraceptive injections.
They may become heavier, shorter, lighter, or stop altogether.
As long as you are having the injections on time, then I wouldn't be worried, but if you still have concerns seek medical advice from your GP.
